Piiri Tavern

Piiri Kõrts is located near the Vastseliina Castle and is on the previos important road from Riga to Pskov. Tavern with horse-post station is mentioned already in 1695 year road atlas.
Tavern sold local Manor productions and was used as guesthouse and entertainment place.

Favorite Dish: We stopped only shortly in there so I had time to grab a beer. Estonian Saku beer is very good !

Haanja Marathon (taken by A.B.)

The Haanja Marathon takes place annually and is one of Estonia's biggest cross-country skiing events. Hundreds of daring skiers enter the marathon and choose a distance of either 20 or 40km. Then they disappear somewhere in the woods near Haanja and come back exhausted hours later... It's a great event in the area and often, even some foreigners participate.

Equipment: skis are recommended... and of course a lot of power because cross-country skiing indeed is a little exhausting
