shrimp56 Says:  When attending the Galicnik Wedding it was difficult to select a location as you couldn't see it all from one spot. We missed a lot of the action, but we were fortunate in that we could see the dancing fairly well.

Great view over Galicnik from Hotel Neda
1 more image

Hotel Neda offers great view over the village Galicnik.

We went here to have lunch and a drink on the terrace.

We should have gone for just the view and a drink because the food was terrible and the service lousy (and I don't complain quickly...)

Favorite Dish: The great view!

Getting There

Getting There, Galicnik

tayloretc Says:  There are two ways to get to Galicnik – hiking from Janche or driving from Mavrovo.Hiking doesn’t look bad on the map, and the description I had of the trail sounded ok – about 5 km, moderate – with great views. Once there, though, people who lived there said the description...

Up in the mountains...

Up in the mountains..., Galicnik

shrimp56 Says:  Getting to Galichnik isn't easy -- you take a road from Mavrovo that winds through the mountains. And then after you park your car, or your bus finds a place it is a long [usually hot] walk [a lot uphill] to get to the wedding site. It's worth it!.The website below is a full...

Mountain Pass to Galicnik

The snow can be quite heavy in the winter, leaving you stranded for weeks. There are a couple of year-round residents there and reliable electricty., however. Only one road leads to Galicnik; it comes by way of Lake Mavrovo ski resort. A number of buildings' roofs have collapsed due to snow load.

Here is a picture taken in May 2005 of the mountain pass leading into Galicnik:
