This site is one of several settlements / fortresses built by the Roman Empire in Macedonia. It is outside the city of Vinica. The site contains the ruins of many Roman structures, but, for me, the best part is the view!

On my way to Greece I passed through this beautiful country ... Country that used to be my country . But unfortunately I ve never had opportunity to go there before. We traveled through Macedonia during the night ... and all I could see was fantastic mountains and sunrise .
In the eastern part of Macedonia (which by the way isn't explored enough and is very nice), there's a pretty cool town called Strumica. Normally known for its tasty peanuts (and people that talk really fast). :-) Definitely suggest visiting it as people are warm, friendly and ready for fun."Skala" is one of the famous places for going out. And also a cafe called "Zair."(photo taken from the web-site www.strumica.com) March is the month of the Strumica CARNIVAL. Street fun, crazyness, creativity expression and... see for yourself.(just read today that it had 20,000 visitors this year)

Located in the Western part of Macedonia, Mavrovo is a place that has a unique beauty every season of the year. It is the-place for all of those who enjoy skiing and winter sports, in general.Though the splendor of the fall colors is another can't-afford-to-miss moment. Sitting on the balcony of my cousin's weekend-house there, "staring" at the Mavrovo Lake, clearing out my head and drinking coffee.Nice!

It is not certain when it was built and fresco painted. However, a document about the church property suggests that it was built before 1447. This old church is in a cruciform shape with rectangle basis. It has three-sided apse on the eastern side and an octagonal dome. It should be underlined that the structure is harmonious and it is highly successful in the ornamental shaping of the facades and the dome. Another INCREDIBLE place...Monastery of St Naum...The monastery of St. Naum is located on the southeast side of Lake Ohrid, in the immediate vicinity of the Macedonian-Albanian border. Its building is linked to the name of St. Naum, the closest associate of St. Clement of Ohrid. Records about the life and work of St. Naum can be found in three literature works dedicated to his life. Also the Archbishop of Ohrid, Constantine Cavassila, wrote about him. In the Historical Archives of Ohrid there is a Chronicle written by a priest that lived in the second half of XIX century. It reveals a series of interesting details about the construction of the monastery, the estate of the church, and the lives of the monks. Among other things, there is a record about a disastrous fire that occurred on the night of 2nd and 3rd February 1875, when the largest part of the monastery compound was burnt to...
I enjoy the traditional music, both sung and instrumental, as well as the dances. There are several groups that are preserving these traditional materials. During the summer you will often find outdoor performances around the country -- this one was in Skopje on the Vardar promenade near the old stone bridge.
In Skopje be sure to drive up Vodno mountain to visit the Panteleimon monastery church and to enjoy the views out over Skopje.In Ohrid be sure to take the short walk to Sveti Jovan Kaneo monastery church.And then there is Matka Canyon just outside Skopje.Oh and Sveti Jovan Bigorski ... you get the idea... there are many beautiful places to visit. Every visit to Skopje has a certain pattern. Escape the airport -- go to our friends' home and eat too much -- THEN drive up Vodno to Panteleimon monastery church.I've visited Panteleimon in all four seasons, including March 1999 after a brief snow storm.
