Raskrsnika (Crossroad): Restaurant
We had a nice dinner here after we got lost on the mountain.
They managed to make a vegetarian dish for my girlfriend, who must be the sole Macedonian vegetarian on earth.
Their home-made rakija made me beg for more.
The two stuffed bears and stuffed fox that are part of the interior put the term "eco-tourism" in a special perpective. When my -vegetarian- girlfriend asked about them, they said that the bears probably died of natural causes or were killed in self-defense :-)
We were told by our hostess Divna to make a reservation at the restaurant, so they would know we would be coming, so we did that in the afternoon.
Milka's: Fantastic local food
As part of the ecotourism project several of the locals cook traditional local food for tourists. We phoned ahead to book dinner, and ended up eating in Milka's. The restaurant was small and cosy - particularly as there was a power cut the night we ate there! Milka was very welcoming, and the food kept coming - a real banquet. Delicious!
Favorite Dish: It was all wonderful and all grown by Milka and her family - even the meat came from their own animals. The ajvar was the highlight - easily the best we had in Macedonia. We begged Milka to sell us some, but she said she didn't have any to spare!
