Žitoše's most important economic activities are all centered about growing and drying tobacco. The village itself is situated in the middle of huge tobacco fields and around almost all houses there are long rows of carfully threaded tobacco leaves hanging in the open for drying.

Žitoše'e old mosque was hit by a lightning and destroyed in summer of 2004. Now, they have rebuilt it, increased its size and added three cupreous cupolas.
