Just a picture of Main Square in Skopje- Makedonija Square!
It has been actually renowated some 3 years ago, so this is quite a new look.
It is very wide now, but I prefered the older "version" of city square .
City views from above... very impressive. The best, of course, from the plane.
But standing on the balkony of Mirjana's flat was really great, too. The view across the main part or to Mount Vodno, with its Milenium Cross at night was stunning.
My favorite thing about Skopje - the beautiful girls of course!
Genarally, it totally depends on what brings you to Skopje. As
I went there to chill out a bit on weekends from work; a must-do activity for me was a visit to McDonalds, which most likely is nothing exciting for others. But I would say, climbing up the path to the old fortress Kale is a must for any visitor.
Fondest memory: Onmy first night in Skopje I was starving and desperately looking for a decent restaurant. I strolled for about 45 minutes through the city’s center and could not find a single inviting place to dine-out. I passed two kinda fast-food sausage places and about 100 cafes and smaller bars, but no fine restaurant. I finally ended up in one sort of communism-left-over restaurant. That was quite memorable and had never happened to me in the past in hundreds of cities and towns I had visited. No I knoe plenty of beautiful, nice restaurants with amazing food to even more amazing prices. Just thinking about the food makes me hungry.
Favorite thing: An oasis of peace it could be the headline for this place....once you get in ..its so relaxied ambient...listening the water runs listening to the men talking about their stuff.... gardens....really charm place !!
the most important place or the central area in the city..this is the place where mostly people come together and go to the pubs, restaurants or the mall around it
Its just side by side to Vardar river ..quite beautifull with a nice bridge over it that split the new and the old or turquish quarter full of minarets and mosques
Favorite thing: In the summer visiting Panteleimon is enjoyable for at least 2 reasons! First: the cool inside the marvelously frescoed church. Second: You can sit down and enjoy a traditional Macedonian meal and a Skopsko beer while overlooking Vodno and Skopje.
Skopje is the proud home to the new country's Parlament but it gives still the feeling of a provincial Yugoslavian city...
There are picturesque neighbourhoods and streets, but the centar is dominated by huge blocks of flats. There are spacious avenues but still traffic is heavy during work hours!
Visit Vodno. Go up into the mountains to Vodno where you can see the entire city - an impressive sight at day or night. The air quality is so much better up there too!!
Fondest memory: What I miss most of all about Skopje is the relaxed atmoshpere. I live & work in England & everything is governed by what time of day it is...all rush rush rush! I've spent many hours sitting in a coffee bar with my friends watching the world go by.
Favorite thing: The view of the river, a main bridge and the post office complex from Kale at night show Skopje is a refvlective light ...
This was a freak snowstorm in the middle of March. It was the first time I ate at the restaurant INSIDE!
The picture was taken a few days before the NATO Kosovo action was undertaken.
Favorite thing: Taken from the same perspective as the summer picture in late October 1999. You can see Skopsko Crna Gora faintly in the distance.
Favorite thing: There is planty places where you can see whole town. Maybe not whole but you can see much. It is nice on day and it is even nicer on the night...
