Taverna Toscana is a tiny jewel tucked in a small out of the way shopping center. We stopped in thinking we weren't that hungry, but ended up having one of the best meals ever. The menu changes frequently because everything is made fresh from seasonal ingredients. A great wine list, too. It's more expensive than the average Skopje restaurant, but it's well worth the price if you enjoy fine hand-crafted food and great ambiance. We're returning tomorrow night with friends.
Taverna Toscana was brought to my attention by my friends back in Skopje [They know me well -- food IS important!] They were very pleased with their meals.
Favorite Dish: The specialties include Tagliata al rosmarino [tagliatte with rosemary]-- I am so THERE!
After my first visit at this restaurant , I went there again after one month, and the menù was completely changed. It was a surprise to hear the Chef decide to change the dishes every 2-3 weeks. And the quality always so good..

Skopje has a big community of foreign people, mainly due to the presence of diplomatics and international delegations. A lot of restaurants, in general of local cuisine. The quality is in average medium and the prices low. I tried in june 2005 the new Italian restaurant "Taverna Toscana" (address: Street Ivo Lola Ribar 72). It was a surprise for me (I'm Italian) to find such a great quality on traditional dishes, or the unique new dishes created by Vlatko in this little restaurant. I found mainly foreign people living in Skopje, so the prices are a little bit higher than other restaurants, but in line with the top quality. The ambience is warm and friendly, with red walls and original pictures of Italy.
Favorite Dish: I suggest the fantastic "Tagliata Rustica" (original recipe of meat and vegetables, gently cooked maintaining the freshness and taste of vegetables), the "Tagliata al Rosmarino" (sliced beef grilled and dressed with fresh rosemary and hot olive oil) or the "tagliatelle primavera" with broccoli.
