Ask for GTC. A big mall with several floors and a lot of shops. You can buy anything from art to clothes and groceries here.

The Big Shopping Centre in the centre is worth visiting.
There are several shops that sell clothes at low prices.
It has a Spar-supermarket in it.

One advice: don't buy the cheapest hairgel or the 5 liter-bottle of mineralwater; the quality of this two is horrible.

What to buy: Clothes, clothes, clothes.

What to pay: Reasonable prices

This is the meeting point in Skopje...a huge mail split in 3 levels, its the best way to see how the western market cames in Makedonia.... a huge center full of shops of everything in a trendy style, not like former days when comunist rule the area .... at all you can find everything ...my tarjet was always internet...on the top floor there is an internet point quite cheap ...not the best fare but you could imagine changing currencies how much could it cost... it wasnt a bargain but the connection was fare and the fare also !!
Restaurants, cinemas men's and women's clothes shops, exchange office, whatever you want to find ..thats the place !

This place is absolutely brilliant. As far as I can make out, it specialises in selling off job lots of clothes from stores elsewhere, and does it very cheaply. Mrs. planxty spotted items form places like Mars & Spencer and C&A (two well known European retailers) as well as various name brand goods.

I got an absolute bargain on a North Face zip-in fleece Goretex jacket, which I got for about one quarter of the price I would have paid at home. These aren't seconds or shop soiled goods.

There are men's women's and children's clothes as well as accessories. Needless to say, Mrs. p had a field day!

Here's a picture of the inside of the city shopping center right off the main square. There are ATMs as you enter the mall from the Plostad Makedonjia side.

What to buy: You will find services, local stores, plus some international stores such as Benetton and Mango. You can also arrange for your mobil phone at a Mobimak store. The music store, Jugoton, has a great selection of Macedonian music, both modern and traditional.

Ok, I don't plan to describe any shop, since Skopje isn't really the place where one would go particularly for shopping. Though this doesn't mean you can't find nice stuff.
For most people who've come here from "countries with a higher living standard" the clothing is quite cheap.
The so-called City Shopping Mall is the right place to find anything you need: clothing, accessories, sports wear, shoes...
In case you're here for a longer period and need something specific, let me know, so that I can suggest the good-for-the-budget version.

While this is the biggest and most central shopping center in Skopje, it is not the only one.

At night, particularly in the warmer weather, "young Skopje" frequents the many small cafés lined up on the second level.

What to buy: You can find shops that sell just about everything you would expect in a shopping center, as well as a bank, a travel agency and other consumer services.

My favorite is the music store, "Jugoton", where I always check for the latest in Macedonian music. There is also a small art gallery called "National Gallery" which sometimes has old filigree jewelry for sale, as well as a great restaurant, Ginos!

You can find almost everything here. It also functions as a "gathering" place for youngsters until the shops are closed at 22:00.

If you are interested in ethnic music, Jugotone's music shop at 3rd floor of Gradski Trgovski Centar is a perfect place.
