    A city scene in the center of the new town and walking ahead to Makedonija square ..people doing nothing or just realxing closer to the mall ..the most important and maybe the one there !!

    The new part of Skopje is separated from the old part (Carsija) by the river Vardar.

    This is a view down the Vardar river. It's a little deceiving as therre really are big buildings on both sides. It looks so much prettier in the early summer when there is green grass and more water in the river!

    This city view in winter and summer were taken 2 years apart -- the winter was 2001, the summer 2003. You can see that outdoor advertising has been added in that time. This view was taken from a building on the main square, Ploshtad Makedonija.

    Hate it or love it: The Main Post Office, a weird huge concrete building. Communism at it's best?!

    It is not far from the Stone Bridge and Makedonija Square, in the new part of Skopje, south of the river Vardar.

    Skopje is surrounded by mountains. The closest is the popular Vodno-- about an hour away are higher mountains called Skopsko Crna Gora, or "black mountains."
