Ask for the card before you order something and remember the prices. Also for a drink or smaller things. So you can avoid being cheated with the bill. Allegedly some try for that with tourists. This would have happened to us almost with a wine order. A pint of local red wine for 10 euros? Oops! We still could stop the order (thanks to a nice waiter).Can you rate well? Fish even is calculated by weight.
In many countries the taxi mafia is active,If they see a tourist they see the dollars and try to cheat you.So don't be naiv, Get a feeling for the right price by asking other people.Always ask for the price before you get off.Always look what the driver does if he uses the taxameter.In Hungary they have sometimes a manipulated taxameter.If you drive by day be sure that he doesn't use the night tarif. Pay and try to do better next time! Use public transport.
Exchange the macedonian money before leaving the country.The money of Macedonia can NOT be exchanged anywhere out from Macedonia, not even in its friendly neighbour Serbia -Montenegro !!! Don't forget, you must convert in Euros all macedonian money, BEFORE leaving the country
As mentioned under "transportation", beware of taxi drivers trying to overcharge you! I only had problems twice while staying in Skopje for 2 months, but these taxi drivers exist for sure!
You dont have to worry about tourist traps , becose there dont come any tourists!!!!! You will be the first one!!
Be careful as you are everytime you travel to other countries as a tourist.
