I used Taxis on 3 ocassions in Skopje and found the drivers very helpful and fair with the price by meter. I was advised by hotel to used taxis at recognised ranks .
The Republic of Macedonia is linked up with European countries by a railway line, which crosses the country (from SR Yugoslavia to Greek border).
The buses are more frequent, than the trains. Some buses are in very good condition, but not all of them.
Skopje and Ohrid have airports. As I know Adria Airways provides service from Ljubjana, SLN Austrian Airlines from Vienna, and Croatia Airlines from Zagreb.
If you are in north of Greece, take a look in a town of this new country, as Macedonia is very near....For example, Gevgelia is only 2H.15m from Thessaloniki by train...
