Gjógv

by lisahurley

I have to say, whoever it was who said that all of the Faroe Islands is off the beaten path is totally right. That is the beauty of the place. It is so untouched, and so beautiful. But Gjógv, among many other spots, is a sight to behold. Definitely check it out.

by Irato

Hiking on Eysturoy. I spent six days here alone, with my tent. I was looking for a perfectly safe place, where I could choose my routes, where aren’t the hordes of tourists. And I found it. I’ve hardly ever met another human being here. It was great time, full of peace and relaxation. There’s no way to get lost on Eysturoy, the mountains are not hard to climb, green grass everywhere, lovely landscapes, picturesque villages Eidi and Gjogv. I hope one day I’ll do it once again.

We bought a trip with an old ship..i thought it was old anyway...in the habour of the capital that would sail us out to one of the smaller islands and into the caves that we had heard of. It is really recommendable.. just be prepared for the fact that it takes about 4 hours to get there...and the view over that islands and the sea can´t keep amazing you after 4 hours. But it´s loads of fun anyway..also check out my travelouge for more pictures of this trip..please!?
