Raincoat - frequent rain & drizzles Water-resistent bottoms - for more serious outdoor activity Water-resistent hiking shoes - or your feet will be wet when you hike Comfortable walking shoes - to do lots of walking around town.
A good zoom/telephoto - for close-ups of birds. protective casing - so you can hike without worrying. Lots of film - so many gorgeous views, you don't want to run out!
nalgene bottle - always useful for hiking, though it's so wet in the Faroes, drinking water isn't asbig of a deal as it is in some places.
FAROE ISLANDS - THE BRADT TRAVEL GUIDE An adventurous stomach - try dried fish, pilot whale steak, sea birds, skerpikjøt, and rullupylse - some of my favorites. (the dried fish is usually a big hit with those who are a little less bold.) Leave a Comment

Even if you have no plans whatsoever to go walking/hiking you will still need warm clothing and waterproofs. It doesn't get hot in the Faroes, it is rare that the temperature rises above twenty degrees celsius. It doesn't get very cold in the Faroes, the gulf stream moderates the climate. It does rain quite a bit however, it is reckoned that rain will fall on average 290 days a year and when those North Atlantic gales blow it can feel raw. So be sensible and pack a fleece/jumper and waterproof/windproof jacket. Leave a Comment

It's a good idea to bring a rucksack for daytrips, because theyre easyer to carry around.
Rain gear is absolutely essential. It rains a lot, and the weather changes continously. It's a good idea to bring an extra sweater to, because it's quite chilly even in the summer.
Expensive to buy, but how long are you going to stay at this tiny place?
Telephoto lens for birdwatching. A Tripod is a verry good idea. Something to keep the equipment dry. I wouldn't bring my wideangle though (I found no use of mine) Leave a Comment

Beautiful days like this can be few n far between! by lisahurley You definitely need to have approriate clothing for cool, cold, and soggy weather. There may be some very warm days in the summer, but don't count on them. Also, if you plan to hike, bring water-resistant shoes. The ground is often wet! Leave a Comment

You'll better have clothes for all kind of weather, there surly could be all seasons in one day. If you like tracking, take some good shoes to walk in the mountains...it's easy walking, and there for everybody should be able to do it!
no specialities!

by Bjorgvin Like in Iceland, the weather conditions in the Faroe Islands can change very quickly. In fact the weather there is more unpredictable than in Iceland. A thick mist/fog or a rain shower is characteristic for the islands, but it can change to brilliant sunshine in a matter of minutes and then back to rain again. Furthermore the weather is local depending on the wind direction. Weather forecasts are available at tourist information offices. Wear a waterproof rain jacket and a warm sweater as well as a warm hat or cap. Rubber boots or waterproof hiking boots are a must. Basically these are the same clothes you’d be wearing in Iceland.
The rich bird life is extraordinary. So be well equipped with photographic gear if you own a assortment of lenses. And don’t forget to bring along binoculars for the view can be splendid on a clear day.
