Favorite thing: If you don't know what to do on the island, just visit the information center first. They're really helpful. You can use the Internet for free there. The toilet is also clean. They also sell stamps here.

Churches on Aland

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Dexters 52 reviews

Favorite thing: There are about sixteen very nice medieval churches on Aland. Most of them are build with Åland granite. In my opinion, the most beautyful one is in Finström and was build in the 13th century.

The ten most famous churches are located at:
Marienhamn, Jomala, Finström, Sund, Geta, Hammarland, Eckerö, Saltvik, Lemland and Lumparland

The churches in Eckerö, Hammarland, Jomala, Finström, Saltvik and Sund are, in addition to Lemland, among the oldest on Åland. There are also three – considerably more modern – wooden churches on Åland, in Lumparland, Sottunga and Brändö.
