This place is really crowded on Thursday nights. The age of the crowd is mostly 30+ and well dressed. The place has 2 levels and the bottom is more of a bar. You can easily make friends here but I found it too crowded to even walk around. Would recommend the place.
Dress Code:
Well dressed but I think you can wear whatever you like
Kalle is "the" best place to be on Thursday nights in Helsinki! I really like the interior and the building (an old church) is really amazing. On Thursdays there's mostly businesspeople wearing their suits etc or at least there used to be. I have heard that the place's atmosphere has loosen a bit. This is definitely the place to be seen on Thursdays.
Dress Code:
Don't wear sneakers if you want to get in.
Kaarle XII, definateley the best place to go on a Thursday in Helsinki. The place gets crowded early already, so unless you are a VIP and you can enter through the right line, better make sure you are early (between 9-10). Very nice atmosphere and the chance to see the Finns (and yourself) dancing on the tables. The bartenders and staff (bouncers included) are really friendly. The bartender guy on the second floor, biggest bar at the dancefloor 'room' makes the BEST sex on the beach there is.
Upstairs is the place to dance and chill (2 rooms). Downstairs is the place to enjoy a beer at the pub and to go into the "saunabar" where it is getting sweating hot and where everyone is dancing on Finnish music on the above mentioned tables.
VERY recommendable.
Dress Code:
Lots of suit guys..but tending to go to more casual style lately.
This place is nice. The place is usually full on wednesday-saturday so expect queues after 22:00. There are multiple rooms, 5 if I remember. One big one is for dancing typically disco, then a smaller one also for dancing happy finnish well known songs and is typically very crowded. Then there are 3 room for socializing, nice cigars.
Kaarle XII, aka Kalle. open tue-sat 16/19-04
Packed to the max on thu and sat nights. A disco in a nice historical, big building with portraits on the wall. This is where the marketing and finance yuppies spend their evenings. And ofcourse, business academics. No cover charge!
Expect two loooong queues after 10 pm. The other ones' for VIPs and the other one for you. And they're both slooooow. If you get in in 30 mins you've broke the record.
The "Finn-pop" beer & whisky bar downstairs has a huge selection of drinks. If you like to rub yourself to girls/boys go there late on a weekend - and you can't avoid it.
Dress Code:
Suit, sports jacket, smart casual.
