Tavastia is the most famous rock-club in Finland. This is the place, where young bands would love to play. It´s so small anyway, that these days there are also spome small young bands playing.
Tavastia is kind of home to HIM,one of best (or even the most) known Finnish rock/metal-bands.This is where they began.Every yaer, just before new year-and at new year,we HIM-fans try to get tickets to Helldone,HIM-festival.This year it was 4 days.We did finally get the tickets.Sadly we could only go for one night, because we don´t live in Helsinki, and needed to pay the hotel and doghotel. But anyawy-we finally got to go :)
There is so much people from all over the world, that we hardly heard Finnsih at all!
At the "cellar" there is place called "Semifinaali".We hadn´t been there before, and I was shocked to see how small it is!We also love music of the 69 eyes, and they were performing down there. We hardly saw nothing. If we would have known how small it is,we would have gone there much earlier,to get better places!.
Dress Code: Ther is no dresscode, but mainly you can figure out somtehing about the band witch is playing that night.
If the place is full like at Helldone-it´s really hot!(You hardly ever can hear me saying it´s hot in anywhere-so belive me) if you want to go anywhere close the stage. And on the other hand-at the time of Helldone,it might be freezing outside-so this is litlle bit of problem..I got a flu this year, when walking to the hotel after that"heat".
If you are interestet in good finnish rock music, you have to get a ticket for a concert in the tavastia club or the smaler semifinal.
i have joined a concert from kent clark and it was pretty cool.
in the tavastia club play the known bands like HIM or also not finnish bands like billy talent.
But in the semifinal you can listen to the even not well known finnish bands

Tavastia is the most famous rock club in Helsinki and lots of famous local andinternational bands have played here. Especially famous if HIM's New Years Eve gigs. Small borther Semifinal is located in the next door and not-yet-so-famous bads are playing in this side. There are lots of new competitors in town: Nosturi, Virgin Oil, On the Rocks and Apollo Live Club.

If you're going to Tavastia for an 18+ gig, make sure you take some ID with you, they're very strict about it. If they think there's a chance you're under 18 (which they did with me, and I was 27!), and you can't prove you're not, forget it! (I had to dash back across Helsinki to my hotel to fetch my passport!).
This is the temple of Rock in Helsinki. All the biggest Finnish stars are performing live here from time to time, it might be difficult to get tickets sometimes, but you might be lucky just to pop into Ville Valo (HIM) while he’s in the crowd.
Dress Code: The usual Black
Tavastia Klubi is the biggest, oldest and finest spot to catch Finnish bands live. Owned by Helsingin Rock and Roll Ltd, this club has been run by Mr. Juhani Merimaa, Mr. Pekka Gorman and their gang since its opening in the 80s.
If you're a fan of live music and a true club addict, this is the place to go. However, it's wise to purchase your tickets in advance since the most popular gigs can be fully booked for weeks in advance.
If you're lucky, you might even be able to rub shoulders with some local rock stars, and remember that not only local groups perform here - world class acts such as Kula Shaker, Skunk Anansie, Type O Negative have visited.
Next door there's also a restaurant that serves simple yet delicious meals with affordable prices - Ravintola Ilves.
Down below Tavastia you can find a smaller club called Semifinal, where local stars and upcoming stars perform.
Whatever floats your boat!
The most 'legendary' rock club in Finland with bands preforming almost every night. You can see the best finnish bands play here, and smaller foreign bands too. It's a pretty small place, and when it's packed (which it usually is when a more well-known act is on) it gets REALLY hot. But the atmosphere is great, the audience and the band always seem to have a great time. Definitely the best place to see some finnish bands that are huge here, but practically no one has heard of abroad. Look out for Ultra Bra (a bit different, but everyone love's them, be prepared to be the only one who doesn't know the lyrics by heart!), Egotrippi, The Crash, Manboy, Kemopetrol... See what's on in newspaper's etc.
Dress Code: Basically anything goes. No need to be very smartly dresses, you'll probably blend in best with jeans and a cool t-shirt.
This is basically a very well-known, often played venue in the rock and metal world. The staff are generally nice but I did have some trouble speaking English to them, that was fun.
It's the #1 rock venue in Finland. One of the best places to hear good Finnish music:Apocalyptica, Him... and many others. (Bomfunk MC's in picture)
