Cafe Carusel is located in Kaivopuisto, which is a popular, big park in southern Helsinki. The cafe offers delicious pastries, buns, salads, pizza, beer, wine, drinks and a large selection of coffees.

Open every day from 9am to 9pm.
Transportation: Bus 18, tram 3B/3T.
Unpretentious atmosphere, it is more like a bar with a side facing the street in the second floor that is fairly nice. The food is reasonable Spanish style, you can get self service soup and bread from a counter. I have been in this place several times, last one in Aug 06. The food in general is fine, and prices are moderate. However, the service has been slower and slower... I stop going because of this factor. But if you don't mind waiting and fill the time with a glass of wine or beer ...
Favorite Dish: Grilled salmon
Nicely situated, nice atmosphere but you a price for this. Good sandwiches and coffee. Especcially in summertime a good place to relax, but a little bit too crowdy and hectic as this is a very popular place.
This is a round and hip cafe near my home. The negative thing is that its terrace is often very full.
This is great place to get some cold drinks before entering the Pihlajasaari ferry which departures just in front of Carusel's terrace.
This cafe is situated on a very beautiful location on the seaside, close to Kaivopuisto. You can get here easily by walking from the city centre (Start at Fredrikinkatu or walk through Kaivopuisto), by bus (routes 14 and 17). The cafe is located in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Helsinki. In summertime you have a good view from the terrace of maritime Helsinki and the sea and boats.
At Carusel you can get lots of different kinds of coffees. The kitchen has homemade meals, a salad of the day and soup. I have not been here for dinner, just for a cup of coffee. Very recommendable place.
Open in winter: 10-7
Open in summer: 10-10
One of the top coffeehouses in Helsinki! Modern interior (a lot of wooden surfaces), spacious, high ceeling and big windows.
Makes a great ending point for a walk through the most beautiful areas of Helsinki (Punavuori, Ullanlinna, Eira). One can enjoy a cup of tea here while watching the sea side views. Especially off-season a good place when looking for something peaceful.
The terrace is a busy meeting point in the summer, but already as early as in April it starts to get busy on sunny days. One of the warmest places in Helsinki because sheltered of the wind.
Closed around 20th of Dec and 31st of January.
Favorite Dish: Unfortunately eating is nothing special here.
Panninis, sandwiches, cakes etc. In the lunch time (~ 11.00 - 14.00) soup and two warm dishes offered. Toasts with salad about 6.50. A soup with bread and coffee/tea costs 6.50. Once odered a portion of soup - it was ok.
For vegeterians not much: cheese panninis and tuna sandwiches.
This funny roundy cafeteria is very popular around the year. You'll notice local people having a break after walking, tourist groups, families and maybe some famous types too. This is a mix of everything, but this 'everything' means little bit richer people. You won't see poor students drinking bear at this bar.
Views are fantastic, Cafe Carusel is located in one of the southest part of Helsinki, just nearby sea.
Favorite Dish: I like Latte, always. There are good breads too.
Sit in for a café, beer or cidre. This is a very popular spot in summer time, for the open air tables are perfectly located on the south-west side, so sunshine is guaranteed, if no clouds are bothering... Feel the salty air breezzzz and battle with angry arrogant seagulls ; )
