I'll forget the view because so many tips already enthuse about it. However I haven't noticed any reference to its interesting location close to numerous beautiful buildings that house the embassies of so many countries.
In consequence, if you go at a popular work-break time, you can hear such an amazing variety of languages.
Favorite Dish:
We have only been there for very light snacks but we have never had a bad one in several visits.
Cafe Ursula was at it's prettiest in December just before Christmas. They do a Christmas buffet at lunch time and the cafe is decorated with candle holders on each table. Ursula's cafe latte is served in a tall glass (just like it should be!!) and their pastries are very tasty. The view from the cafe is magnificent as it literally opens up at the sea. It is absolutely beautiful at any time of the year although I think on this this gorgeous December morning it was particularly special. The sun had barely risen although it was 9.30am. Lovely! 3
Favorite Dish:
Cinnamon roll. It was fresh and I hadn't had one for ages.
Cafe Ursula enjoys an ideal serene setting, between Kaivopuisto Park and the Gulf of Finland, that gives you great view of the water and Harakka Island. You can often find other tourists hanging out on the terrace outside in the summertime.
There is a wide selection of pastries to choose from to go along with your coffee. While enjoying our cinnamon pastry and apple pie, respectively, we could see people bungy jumping a few kilometres away as part of the Helsinki Day celebrations.
Best thing is that it's by the sea. You can drink your morning coffee and enjoy the sea view.
There is a lunch every day 11-14.
Favorite Dish:
Champagne breakfast, you have to order it beforehand. It is really big and tasty. You will definitely get your belly full.
At the "end" of Kaivopuisto park, right at the seaside, is Café Ursula located, one of the best-known and most favourite places in Helsinki.
Wonderful view of the sea and islands (Suomenlinna). There is a popular terrace during the summer months. Beware, it is a very popluar and thus busy place most of the time.
You have to make your order at the counter.
Good sandwiches, cakes, etc.
Definately go there during the summer.
Tip: On summer nights Cafe Carusel turns into Club Ihana (meaning "wonderful") and it's a real party place. Geheimtip as the Germans would say.
What a beautiful sight from there... its in front of Suommelina archipielago and whether you can go in a sunny day i suggest go outside in terrace as a sunbathe cos its so relaxed
We ate something .. teas and local bakery .. i could remember like how nice and good it was !!
Cafe ursula is side by side Kaivopuisto forest and ambassies quarter
This is one of the classic coffee houses in Helsinki. In the edge of the Kaivo park just by the sea. In the summer it is very nice to sit outside here, but even in the winter it is very nice to sit inside with all the snow around and the freezing sea
Favorite Dish:
To have Lonkero in the summer outside.
There are two coffeehouses by the sea in the Kaivopuisto area: Carusel and Ursula, Ursula is smaller and older of these two.
One could say Ursula is cosier (because of the smaller size) but it is also less tranquille because the tables are closer to each other. So if you require more space and modern interior then Carusel is your place. But - if you appreciate the views then Ursula by far. The round shape of the main room is interesting and makes observing the view plesant. The sea opens wide in front of you with Suomenlinna fortress and the ferries passing by.
The best view in Helsinki!
Favorite Dish:
Once again: nothing special. The prises are though moderate. I have tried a tuna sandwich a couple of times: filling and ok. And cheap.
The staff is very nice.
Well, what can i say - reasonable facilities and service. It was first set up as a temporary facility for the 1952 Olympic games - it is still here going from strength to strength!
The Cafe Ursula is a wonderful place to enjoy your coffee or Lonkero outside.
As this place is situated at the waterfront, it is always very crowded when the weather is nice.
