The main buildin of PYH?NIEMEN KARTANO is from the beginning of the 19th century, was built in empire style. It however has been altered many times afterwards and the present exterior from the latter part of 19th century and renovations of 1907 is a mixture of bacoque and reneissance styles. Another building was built in 1880's. Pyh?niemi Manor is also called Hollola's Hollywood because many Finnish movies were filmed there in 1930's.

Between 1982 and 2004 there was a exhibition of Finnish art, paintings, sculpture, gracpics, but now the manor is for sale. The next exhibion will open in summer 2006. The manor is surrounded by beautiful English style garden.

You can take bus 4A or 4B to get there, they drive circle from Lahti to Hollola. Ticket is 4,40 euros at the moment and it takes about 30 minutes to get there.

Opposite to the church. This building used to be town hall of Hollola and first village town hall , which was designed by an architect. Vilho Penttilä designed this building in national romantic style. It was finished in 1902. Today there is a restaurant, which serves typical food of this area (Häme) in its buffet.

This is a resort with many possibilities to outdoor activities. I've spent a fun day with friends and look forward to going again. Besides downhill and cross country skiing and snowboarding you can do horseback riding, and golf in summer. Nice restaurants. Also hotel accommodation available but I have no experience on that because I live too close to stay a night.

Equipment: You can rent here the eqipment you need.

Trying horse back riding at Messila
