You need a car to get there, and it takes about an hour's drive from Helsinki, but it's worth it. Saaksi beach (the Lake Saaksjarvi) is well known to locals and very popular, too. No entrance fee. The water is so clear that you'd think you were swimming in a bath tub if it weren't so cold... There's a summer cafeteria where you can have some snacks or ice cream, sodas and so on. They have a reasonably sizeable parking lot, but because the beach is so popular, it's always difficult to find parking space on a hot day if you arrive in the afternoon.
Heavy metal festival on the first weekend June. Please note, no dogs are allowed on this beach.
