This is my favourite cafe in Kouvola, mostly because of the central location and relaxed ambience. It's a chain cafe, so you can find Coffeehouse in Helsinki, Tampere, Lappeenranta and many other towns as well. The prices are a bit high, which is why I usually only take a cup of tea or coffee... They have cakes, which look delicious, as well as sandwiches and minipizzas there, too. Great place to meet up with friends.

Fransmanni is the restaurant in Sokos Hotel Vaakuna in Kouvola. Been there many times and their food never disappoints me. It's a good place for a night out with a bunch of friends, but also offers a nice ambience for a dinner for just the two of you.
Favorite Dish: Chicken pasta with creamy tomato and herb sauce, marinated tomatos and olives. My favourite dessert is Fransmanni's classic chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Hesburger is a popular fast food chain in Finland. The food is basically the same as at McDonald's: hamburgers, fries, salads and soft drinks. The interior is colourful, the ambience a bit noisy especially upstairs where there is a playing area for children. Great for a quick lunch or picking up a take-away meal.

Amarillo serves tasty tex-mex food such as tortillas, quesadillas and nachos. There are also burgers, steaks and pasta on the menu. Nice, relaxed ambience and good service. After you're finished your meal you can enjoy a few drinks or even stay there all night, since there's also a night club on the premises.
Favorite Dish: Chicken pocket (Chicken fillet, grilled goat cheese, marinated red onions, tomatoes and iceberg lettuce wrapped in a tomato tortilla. Served with French fries and chili mayonnaise) and a Cola Vanilla shake for dessert.

Small cafe in front of the railway station in Kouvola. A good place to sit and wait for your bus/train or just enjoy a cup of cappuccino while reading newspapers or watching people outside. They serve all sorts of coffee, sandwiches and sweet pastries and also beer and other alcoholic drinks. Nice service and reasonable prices.

Nice addition to the coffee-scene in Kouvola. This place has sertain old time charm and it resembles traditional European cafés. They have a good selection of coffees and alcoholic cocktails and also homebaked pies and cakes.

This restaurant/bar serves nice tex-mex food in big portions and they also have very wide selections of beer and cider. Don't expect much from the service and it can get a bit noisy if there are a lot of people at the bar drinking, but the food is good so it's definitely a good option if you're feeling hungry.

This small restaurant offers good Chinese food, especially their lunch buffet for about 7-7,5 € is really good value and their tea is absolutely lovely. The owners don't speak or understand much Finnish, but they are welcoming and smiling. They also provide take away if you ask. Decoration is not as nice as in other ethnic places in Kouvola, but who minds as long as the food is good.

I didn't like kebab, before I tried their Pita Kebab. It's absolutely delicious so go there and try for yourself if you're craving some fast food.
Favorite Dish: Quite obvious isn't it. Pita Kebab of course, but they do make good pizzas too.

A very good Thai-restaurant with reasonable prices. The atmosphere is really nice too since they have decorated the place beautifully. Its like a little piece of Thailand in the middle of Kouvola. They've also got a small shop there selling silk, spices and chopsticks.
Favorite Dish: All I've tasted has been good.

I spent a little time in this town between train and bus connections. This is the city center to which you can walk straight up from the railway/busstation. There is this pedestrian shopping street......

If you go to Kouvola, the only really really "must" is to visit the great Spanish restaurant Olé. It is the best steak restaurant I've ever been to. The food is superb, especially the Pork Catalonia...
