Dark M is a very unique coffeeshop in the center of Lappeenranta. When you step in, your first thought might be that this a place only for the listeners of heavy metal, but if you stay for for a while, you can see that Dark M is a place for everybody. It is place where you relax, and listen experimental music. There are different kind of art, made by many artists in Finland. Small statues, swords, paintings etc. There are also few computers, and internet is free to all the customers.
The owners of Dark M have also purchases
some board games, so that you can play Chess and few other games with you friends, or with other customers of the coffeeshop
Also, everything is in sale. All furnitures, computers, art, carpets, lamps, plants, books, bookshelfs. Everything. If you want to buy something, just ask.
Favorite Dish: Filled bread stick is my favourite from the menue. And I also like chocolad milkshake.

This very cosy place is situated in the historical fortress of Lappeenranta.
The house itself was built in the middle of the 19th century and used to be the home of Russian officers before Finland got its independence, later it was a hospital and then an umbrella factory moved in.
Favorite Dish: Too bad it was closed when I passed on New Year, I would have liked to try some homemade cake there.
Well, maybe next time.

This is classic coffee house in the fortress. Serving Finnish coffee and the traditional pastry items. I was here in the winter, but I am really tempted to visit again in the summer and see how beautiful it is here when sitting outside and watching the sunset.

It's rather a cafe than a restaurant but it's absolutely amazing: The Cafe Majurska at the fortress of Lappeenranta. The house the cafe is in used to be a home for Russian officers (before the independence of Finland) and it was also a hospital for epidemic diseases and an umbrella factory once.
It feels like being in a museum, with all the old furniture and pictures. And I can assure you, it didn't smell of epidemic diseases anymore!
Favorite Dish: The apple pie with custard was lovely. And the tea was the most delicious tea I ever had in my life.

Another very nice coffeehouse located in old building. This one was not far from the city centre but was closed the time I was visiting here.
