Medis Mama Africa: African, Asian and Halal

by akkipaa Written Dec 30, 2014

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Inspite of the current economical downgrading in the area, there are new borns also. A brave African based woman (she is Mediatrice from Ruanda) blowed up some spirit to town's food market and started to supply a little bit rare food stuff like halal, Asian and African, which most of us say: Exotic.

The shop was opened 7th Dec 2014 and unfortunately it was closed when I passed by (it's closed on mondays), but I update more when I have an opportunity to visit there.

    Mustola: Road 13 shopping area

by akkipaa Written Nov 23, 2014

Road 13 starts from town called Kokkola in western coast of Finland. There's only one reason that the area is just here, and it is Russians. The road goes to Nuijamaa and further to Vyborg russia and this place is the first trying to catch Russian tourist. There are three main shops: Lidl, Rajamarket (Border market) and Disa's Fish.

You know Lidl, Rajamarket is more interesting, it sells everything, with large packages and low brands. Rajamarket has six stores, all located near Russian border.

Disa's Fish is an interesting one also. They have daily stuff but like the name says, one of the key products there is fish. You might find some special and rare fish there, like smoked eel, carps and salmon. Of course there is large selection of roes and caviar.

What to buy: You might find interesting products from Disa's fish, but from Rajamarket I have not found price-quality killers.

Bazaar type market place: Market Place in Lappeenranta

by Amala Updated Nov 7, 2002

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The atmosphere at the Market Place is intimate, and it is the right place for meeting authentic Karelian people. Between shopping, try the local delicacies on the coffee stalls.

What to buy: Try the famous burgers called "Vety (Hydrogen)" and "Atomi (Atom)". You get the original ones only in Lappeenranta.

What to pay: Approximately 3 euros per burger.

    Antiques and more

by Knutt Updated Feb 5, 2004

Of course there are also 'modern' shops in Lappeenranta and quite a big shopping center but I liked those tiny shops in the traditional wooden houses much more.

    The local mall

I cannot think of unique item that you can get in Lappeenranta, but if you just need to do some shopping, beside the city centre stores there is this small mall also there in the city.
