Porvoo Cathedral
is located in the centre of the Old Town.
And here comes a trivia question: which one of the famous finnish formula one drivers got married here?

Have a walk in the Old Town of Porvoo or even better take a ride!
Beside this very narrow and most picturesque streets you can also find the art gallery Vanha Kappalaisentalo and The Edelfelt-Vallgren art Museum.
Loviisa Harbour
is an award-winning clean harbour with some old store houses. Just a beautiful spot to spend time on a sunny day!
At the harbour there is also a tiny museum related to sailing and sea.

The Home of national poet Johan Ludwig Runeberg
is NOT to be missed! He wrote the words to Finnish national anthem 'Maamme' (Vårt Land in swedish) (from his famous book 'Vänrikki Stoolin tarinat' - Tales of Second Lieutenant Stool) and military march 'Porilaisten marssi'.
The house is kept in the same condition as it was during 19th century and the guide I met was from Runeberg's family.
The country yard and even palm trees inside are the same ones than over 100 years ago.

Those are traditional style wooden houses, they are not old, they just built in an old design style, and you will see such in many old cities around Finland.

The harbour area is maybe the nicest and relax place to visit with lots of boats and nice terraces to have a drink and relax with the warm sunshine in the summer.

Loviisa is a small town to the east of Helsinki about one hour drive. It has nice nature and sea around and can be a nice place for an hour break if you visit the region.

Keep your doors locked and windows up

This is Loviisa. And me. And in the background, the bike that cost far too much money in Savonlinna. The expresson says it all. That and the fact I'd been riding since 9am with only one break.
