This Rail car Dm7 commutes at summertime and only on Saturdays between Kerava (used to be from Helsinki) and Porvoo. It is possible to combine a day trip to Porvoo by boat-train cruise.
The train departs Kerava, timetable in Finnish. You can take a train to Kerava from Helsinki and then switch to the TeddyBoy..
One way price for Kerava-Porvoo is 14 euros and return is 22 euros for an adult. It is also possible to go by train and return by boat to/from Helsinki. Or you can easily take a bus back to Helsinki as well, they go almost every half an hour.
The route goes thru Finnish countryside. This is a beautiful way of seeing Finnish scenery!
Take a boat cruise one way (to/from Porvoo) by by boat and the other by train. The archipelago from Helsinki to Porvoo is really beautiful!

The easiest way to get to Porvoo from Helsinki is a bus and it takes only 55 minutes! The prices should be less than 10 euros - one way.
But do take a look at the other tip as well, especially if you are coming at summer time. One way of coming to Porvoo is by a boat, which leaves from Helsinki as well.

During the summer months there are also boat lines sailing from Helsinki to Porvoo.
They are offering not only transportation but also sightseeing and meals on board.
They will cost you more then the bus but it might be excellent experience.

If you do not book a tour to Porvoo and wanted to go there some way other than riding a bus - then don't fret, you can ride the boat!
The m/s Runeberg cruises from Helsinki to Porvoo (3.5 hours one way) between May and September three to five times a week, departing at 10 AM and returning at 4 PM. It costs €22.50/33.00 one-way/return, half price for children.
On Saturdays, they also have a boat and train combination - take the boat one way and the train back (€33) with the boat leaving from Linnalaituri on Helsinki's Market Square, opposite the President's palace.
But whiechever way you get to Porvoo (some even bike but I suggest you get a map for that!), you will enjoy it!

I just rode the bus from the underground bus station in Helsinki to Porvoo (founded year 1346, second oldest city of Finland) for only 10.40 Euro - and it took only an hour.
Buses from Helsinki's Central Bus Station to Porvoo leave every 15-30 minutes - and difference is only 10 minutes between standard and express services (cost approx €10.30/13.20 one-way and take 55/65 minutes respectively).
It was raining in Helsinki, but as we moved through the countryside, the sun started showing up. Then it was nice and bright in this nice little town!
Porvoo is a municipality situated on the southern coast of Finland approximately 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Helsinki. The town received its name from a Swedish earth fortress near the river Porvoonjoki which flows through the town (Swedish Borgå, borg meaning castle and å river).

Porvoo is best explored on foot. The main tourist sights can be found in the Old Town and at the embankment of the river Porvoo.
Just make sure, to wear proper shoes for small cobbled alleys and streets.
