This taxi boat is also a very handy way of getting around to a handful of islands that are in the Porvoo archipelago.
The boat disembarks at Kalkkiranta / Kalkstrand harbour in Sipoo / Sibbo commune

At summer time (may-august) one possibility of coming from Helsinki to Porvoo is by boat. This way you will have a wonderful chance to see the Finnish coastline and archipelago as well!
There are actually two boat companies, which does these trips. One is steamship type m/s JL Runeberg and the other one is m/s King.
One way price is around 20 euros, return ticket 32 euros.
I usually visit here by car, as it is very short drive on the very well kept motorway.
But there is very good bus connection and there are buses all day long from Helsinki.
In this picture is the central bus station, very small one.
There are many ways to reach Porvoo. A bus ride takes an hour or less, straight from Helsinki centre. The buses also stop at Itäkeskus (the shopping centre). By car from Helsinki it takes either a half an hour or an hour, depending on whether you take the newer motorway or the older one. By bike the journey takes about 4 or more hours. There is also a ferry (Runeberg) from Helsinki port to Porvoo where you can take your bike with you.
The best way getting around Porvoo, is by walking or by bike because the streets are very narrow for cars and it can be difficult to find parking lots.
It is an easy daytrip from Helsinki. The bus departs from the Helsinki bus station every 30 minutes and the trip takes about an hour. A returnticket cost me €7,90.
In summer (until the end of August) there is also the historic Porvoo-Museumtrain on Saturdays. The train departs from Helsinki at 10:12am, and from Porvoo at 4:30pm.
Porvoo itself is easy to walk through.

Porvoo is situated just off the E18 highway and is approximately about 40 minutes drive 50km east from Helsinki.
Porvoo is very small and obviously you can walk and see everything by foot. Just be aware that in the old town its also old stone streets and you will not be very comfortable with high heels
This is very new sightseeing car-train, I am not sure about this tour quality or the price but as this old city is so small anyway you can really just walk anywhere in this place.
Yes, there is this service here and you can use it to take you around this city, very useful to use it on the stone streets of the old city, and you might even find it romanric :-)
