At the time this fortress was built around 1350, the sea shore was much higher inland. In fact this place was surrounded by the sea then. The fortress was abandoned about 200 years later around 1550. It's interesting to see the round tower because, they say, it's done by the same craftsmen as the first round towers of Olavinlinna (in Easter Finland, a town called Savonlinna).
Today, there's a summer theatre operating next to the ruin and the ruin can even be rented for special occasions like weddings.
I've got some nice childhood memories of this place. I used to visit here and go to the summer theatre with my uncle. The play was always the same: The King and Christina, in Swedish and I never understood a word... heh-heh
