This is one of the best pubs in town. Very unique decoration, the owners went to Ireland to get the idea and created very nice pub with relax atmosphere. The only bad thing here that there are TV’s everywhere to follow football, sports etc.

Irish Pub O'Connels is nice.
If you're into snooker, pool or that kind of things, Galaxy (located next to the railway station) is a place for you.
There are few cafeteria kind of places where you can spend your evening/night like 'Cafe Europa' or 'Coffee House'.
When the weather gets warmer the terrace of 'Paapan Kapakka' is a must. Sometimes (I think every weekend atleast) there is also some live music.
If you're on a budget go to 'Ale-Pub'. :-)
For discoing 'Night Life' or 'Night Train'.
For a bit "fancier" 'Hotel Ilves' or 'Hämeensilta' (Dining&Dancing).
For more rock head for 'Sputnik' or 'Doors'.
Dress Code: If you are not going to so called 'local bar' forget your sneakers home. :-)
In 'Hämeensilta' the suit is reguired(?).
Most of the places you can go with "regular" outfit, altough some might deny your entrance when wearing shorts or sandals.

We spent some time there while visiting Tampere. Such a nice place! Cozy! I tasted some good beer from Belgium there, Hoegaarden if I'm not mistaking! Lot of room there but still not too big. Even though it was crowded during Tammerfest, we still found a place to sit there. There was also a small band playing Irish music. I could have sat there all night! Enzo, be sure to visit if you ever end up in Tampere :)

Voted the best place in Tampere this year (2002) in all 'nite life' categories. A very friendly staff, who are, by some, called Highlanders:), as they walk around in kilts. Pretty ok for some pints before you head off to some clubbing...
Dress Code: Whatever.
