EDIT! IT´S CLOSED AFTER TENS OF YEARS. wE WEREN´T THE ONLY ONES TO THINK THE NEW OWNERS DIDN´T DO IT RIGHT, AND THEY HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN.
This used to be one of our favourites. Now they have a new owner, and went here at my birthday.I was hoping to have a real good steak, because they had their traditional"steak-weeks"going.It was quite a surprice to see, that there was no steak-week menu anymore,we only had the normal menu to choose from. And their delicious jalopeno-cream potatos were gone away.
They stak was partly like chewing gum, there was so little potatos, that it was hardly enough for the steak and so much carrots..The garlic-butter was huge,so all portion was very greasy.
We also took a chokolade-cake witch tasted like from the supermarkets freezer. This is very famous local restaurant, but at friday-night,there was only us and one other table of people-as you see from my photo.I think they might not stay at business this way!
At least at this quality they should be cheaper!
Favorite Dish: None anymore..

Katupoika advertises itself as "a decent downtown dining place for youthful city people and original Tampere inhabitants." It's also known for fine wines and a varied range of vegetarian dishes.
Their menu has portions like "Roasted traditional blood sausage, mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam" which is a local speaciality and actually quite good although I know it both sounds and looks awful :D
Favorite Dish: We celebrated my fiance's birthday here earlier this week and this is what we had:
For starters "Traditional baltic herrings from Tampere with roasted rye bread", main course was "Grilled beefsteak with mushroom sauce, potato cake spiced with rosemary, served with vegetables" and for dessert "White chocolate pannacotta with raspberry and blueberry sauce". None of them were special and my beefsteak was too raw. I don't think we'll eat there again.
