One of the stairs at Pispala by Heinisuo This one goes to the "extreme category". :) There are some pretty long stairs in Pispala, which offer quite a good change for your "running" exercises. Go run the stairs for a few times, and you know what I mean about the "extreme". :-) If you want more extreme, then run up and roll them down... I think it is common practise for some hockey players etc. to run those stairs up for MANY(?) times.

Tappara logo by Heinisuo Ice hockey is probably the most popular sport in Tampere(?). Two major teams, Tappara and Ilves, get their fans to Hakametsä icehall whenever they are playing a home game - especially when they are playing against each other. Raipe makes the first goal of the season by akkipaa The Finnish icehockey league started on 14. September and the first match in Tampere was very interesting. It was a local game between Ilves and Tappara. Ilves was better! 2-0! Like football! And the best! The first goal of the season was made by Vesa Viitakoski at time 00:40. ("Raipe" is still in the team. the icon of all Ilves fans (and tapparafans says that he is as old as all old icons are!). Raimo Helminen

If you are a real football fan and happen to be in Tampere between May and October, you might have a chance to see "high class" Finnish football. Tampere United was established just before the Millennium, but they have already won several medals in the Finnish Champion league. They play in Ratina stadium that you can not miss if you take a look at south direction from the city center. It's next to Koskikeskus shopping center and easily spottable in a map. For tickets and game schedule, take a look at http://www.tampereunited.com/ Leave a Comment Theme: Sports WatchingAddress: Ratina Stadium, next to Koskikeskus shopping cente

If you happen to be in Tampere during the winter time and you want to experience something really Finnish.. you should visit the oldest indoor ice stadium of Finland, Hakametsýn jýýhalli. There are two local teams in Tampere that play in the Finnish Champion league. Check out their webpages for game schedules: http://www.ilves.com/ http://www.tappara.fi/ You can buy tickets at the stadium or at Lippupiste offices for Ilves games (http://www.lippupiste.fi) or Lippupalvelu offices for Tappara games (http://www.lippupalvelu.fi). Bus #25 takes you there from the Central Square. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching
