  • Well Hidden First Rate Airport...

This is the only restaurant with servers and full course menu I could find in terminal 1. All others are mostly self-service cafes with sandwiches and salads. Good food for reasonable prices (don't forget, you are in an airport), fast service, and clean environment. To find the main eating area, you have to go through the self-service area, down...

They might not have the same amount to offer in their "menu", but I can guarantee what they offer it is good. This place also sells woolen handicraft and some other unique hand made souvenirs (limited...

This place is a bit extraordinary for Vantaa, inside it looks nice and not stinky at all, no drunks here either and most are rather young local people. There are also two pool tables where you can have extra fun. The service is nice and friendly, you can't expect for much more.

  • Smallest of its kind

Stockmann Jumbo is the latest and the smallest Stockmann department store in Finland -- I'm not counting the outlets at the airport. Despite the size, the store caters for all aspects of living. There is also a miniscule Alko store next to the grocery department. For the uninitiated: Stockmann is the top-notch department store chain in Finland,...

Vantaa Warnings and Dangers

  • Sakke80's Profile Photo

    by Sakke80 Updated Feb 27, 2008

In some suburbs (e. g. hakunila, havukoski, korso, malminiitty..), it's better to take a taxi at night.
There's sometimes some people that can rob and/or beat you up in the worst case, specially if you go to an ATM from bar!

The bars are still fairly safe though, and at daytime it's ok to go walking in the suburbs too.
