Car is the easy and obvious way to get here but if it is in the winter remember the driving conditions as well as spear some time in the morning to clear the snow after the storm.

You can get to Joensuu by train direct from Helsinki in about 5 hours. I haven’t used it myself as I went here by car which is also rather a long drive.
Next time I’ll fly.
