Lieksa Restaurants

  • Koli hotel restaurant

At the ski resort the hotel café and restaurant is the only place that offer meals in the place, do not expect too much from that place, just the average traditional tasteless Finnish hotel food ;-)

Night life is rather busy here, I mean in the ski resort as everyone want to be in the “after ski” party. There is the hotel pub for that matter.

  • Drive

There is surely a way to get to Koli by public transport combined train/flight and local bus. Anyway, the best is to drive of course, the scenery is fantastic and you can visit all the small places and stop where ever you wish.

  • Funicular

When you get to the ski resort, you cannot go with your own car all the way up to the hotel parking. That is reserved to the staff and facility vehicles. So you leave your car few hundreds meters bellow and take this unique elevator/funicular up the hill.

Be aware that in the winter the small roads are covered with snow and ice. It is not that easy to drive if you are not used to it and you should have winter tyres as well.

I guess any trail you take here is a bit off the beaten path. The thing here is that you feel that you are in the middle of nowhere but you are actually not far at all from the civilization, so just enjoy your time and be quiet, you might meet one of the forest inhabitants.
