Torikahvila: A marketplace cafeteria, Mikkeli

Soili Says:  The cafeteria is special because it simply is the heart of the market place. The coffee is good, not to mention the pulla. Mikkeli without the market place and its cafeteria is unthinkable. One coffee and pulla, please. Kahvi and pulla. Finnish pulla is always good.

The market place is very central in Mikkeli. People gather there, and here you can also hear some of the Mikkeli dialect.
Don't be afraid if people come and actually talk to you: they mean no harm, they're just friendly. Even if you don't have a common language.

For those who want to folow a horse race, MIkkeli is one of the places to head to. The race track is situated within the town itself.
A very colourful spectacle, and the town is humming with excitement on the racing day.

Mikkeli - OK for a day--

Favorite thing: I have been to Mikkeli about 13 times, and I find this town very downcast city/town. Not allot to do here, but in the winter they get some good snow falls which is great for winter sports. They have a good Ice Hockey team called Jukurit (web link www.jukurit.fi/)
If you like snooker/pool you can have a game in a bar just in the town. But if you want to buy some souvenirs of your visit in Mikkeli /Finland you wont find them here, if you do email asap. This town of Mikkeli has some great views when you go for walks into the woods. But after been here so many times, I have to give this town my No.One vote for the most cheerless town in the world. I think the people are nice, but not allot of people have English in the shops.
(Winter Its gets dark about 2.30PM, Summer long day sometimes 1 or 2AM day light) here are some images from this city/town
