The main campus of the university located on Seminaarinmäki is a place worth checking out. There are many buildings by the famous architect Alvar Aalto, as well as by a couple of other renowned architects. The campus is also a botanical garden, and you can often find trees and plants with name tags attached to them. The main building (the building C) is where you're probably most likely to find architecture students from all over the world drawing and taking photographs. The building sort of looks like a windowless bunker from the outside (ok, there are a lot of windows at the cafe side of the building), but when you get inside it is actually airy and light.
There are also guided tours arranged around the campus area.
The Mattilanniemi and Ylistönrinne campuses are located close to the main campus by the lake Jyväsjärvi. They were designed by Arto Sipinen and are also a nice place to have a look at. Besides the university buildings, there is a lot of green grass where people hang out during the summer, and there are even some gym classes arranged there. You can also swim there, or have a pint and something to eat at the terrace of the nearby hotel Alba.

Jyväskylä has plenty of cycling routes. Rent a bike (there are two rental companies, the tourist information centre will help) and try it out. One possibility is to cycle around the lake near the centre of the town. To make the trip shorter, cross the lake along the beautiful bridge. To make the trip longer, cycle to Vaajakoski and visit Naissaari (Woman Island) along the canal connecting Lake Jyväsjärvi to the lake chain up north. In summer Naissaari offers a free swimming beach, an art exhibition, an atmospheric cafe, a handicraft shop, a fishing shop, etc. and it its one of my favourite places for a picnic. You can buy everything you need for the picnic in Vaajakoski as there is even an Alko shop for wines and stuff. On the way back to the centre, cycle through the beautiful university campus.

The Tourist Information Office of Jyväskylä is situated in a very nice building at Asemakatu 6. It is from monday till friday opened from 9 till 18 hours (in the summer months july and august), in the other months of the year from 9 till 17 hours. On saturday and sunday the Tourist Information Office is opened from 10 till 15 hours.

Jyväskylä is on and around the lake of Jyväsjärvi, in the summer you can swim, you can fish, you can sail, you can do almost everything in this nice lake. And in the winter, you can do the same besides sailing, but you can skate on the frozen lake.

Well, it is not exactly a tourist site but the University of Jyväskylä nice buildings located just by the lake of Jyväsjärvi, which is making it one of the most beautiful universities here :-)

If you make a town walk you'll find several nice spots in Jyväskylä. Just go for a walk through some of the parks or wander alongside lake Jyväsjärvi.
