If you visit Kokkola during winter, a good way to meet local people and try traditional finnish winter activities is to come to "Roskaruka". It's a small hill just outside the town centre, although it's the biggest "mountain" you can find for miles!

Roskaruka used to be a real skiing centre but that was years ago. Nowadays people still go there to ski and children to ride down the hill, and on sunny winter days it might be really crowded! It's fun and absolutely free! If you climb up to the top you have a great view(see "at night" pic on homepage) over Kokkola! And you some exersice too! :D
