Konginkangas has a long sandy beach totally hidden from view - and at least in summer 2009 there was no sign, either. But it is a free public swimming beach with a parking place, change cabins, pier, outdoor toilet and outdoor grill. The place used to be a camping place which is why the old sauna and kiosk nowadays look rather bad and cannot be used. Don't let them disturb you...
The water in Lake Keitele is pure and clear. The beach is very well suited for children and sun bathing. And as it is situated very near the E4 highway from Helsinki to Oulu and further north, it is a nice place for a stop in summer.
Neste Lintulahti is situated in a beautiful lake scenery along the highway 4 (Route Helsinki-Lappland). The place is clean, the service is good, and the food is very eatable. And it is the only place in Konginkangas where you get proper food all day long!
Neste Lintulahti serves proper home cooked lunch buffet and a menu with also vegetarian and childrens dishes. They also serve glutein-free food.
Next to Neste Lintulahti there is a nice place for caravans, SFC Lintulahti. It is offering its services only for caravans, not fot tenting. http://personal.inet.fi/yhdistys/sfckeskisuomi/lintulahti/index.htm
If you live in Konginkangas it is easier to take a bus to Helsinki or Oulu than it is to the nearby village. All the bus lines along "Nelostie" E 75 from South of Finland to Lapland and back stop in Konginkangas village - either in there or along the highway where it is not long to the village centre.
Unfortunately the village centre doesn't have accommodation anymore... But if you have friends or relatives living there or as summer residents (there are more of those than inhabitants) it is no problem to visit them!
