KATANPÄÄ OF KUSTAVI
The old Russian Tsar´s fortress and lot of other use:
This fortress started to build during Russian tsar Nikolai II time line in the year 1915.
The Russian period end to Finland's independence year 1917. This after this far out island Lypertö/Katanpää served as Finnish army's base for artillery.
Also this island during history has been also prison area.
Nowadays island of Katanpää is famous sea tours destination and also is available to come here by own boats. Summer time you´ll get here, guided tours to banks. Refreshment served in the middle of island in old military dining building as well you can hire and try sauna here.
With own boats you can stay over night in island own marina.

When I stop here and have my warm fish in hand Ill remember with burning longing Albanian´s Lake Ohrid´s trout.
Finnish "home cuisine" is something that Finns also don't know", but if I´ve to compare somewhere " here could be like French country food added to archipelago province".
Here most bread are home made and specialities. You´ll fine here random also great Finnish wild berries among salad table in your own choice.
And what´s price, if somebody tell me that Finnish lunch will cost with starter, main course and different dessert together 5 euro, who believes. Here this true and this is also secret for this restaurants favourite for local peoples that they have place to enjoy their daily lunch.
Yesterday (11 th of April 2007) when I had my lunch I supposed to had dark bread in my small plate this could be famous "archipelgo dark bread", but not. This was owner made by her own hands "cowered bread" which secret in receipt didn´t know either present been sales person.
I can guarantee this bread was excellent.
This happened random and this bread isn´t in every day´s menu.

Take off table with your own choice, so I collected :
- mixed salad added , pickled cucumber, vinegar beet and cow berry jam
boiled potatoes and sausage sauce ( one of Finn´s top favorite) also choice available traditional peas soup, which the Finnish army trust in every Thursdays weekly
- pan cake with strawberry and raspberry jam
The menu here will change and you ll find also: meat, casseroles, herring,salmon etc made with the most traditional Finnish ways which people here like.
