I'd say it's dangerous to go down here on skis!!!!! Scary thought but it's actually even steeper than it looks on these pictures!!! Let's leave it to the jumpers and enjoy watching them and enjoy some scary views while they are not jumping!

The streets are very dangerous to walk or bicycle on in winter--icy! Also watch out for snow falling off roofs. You might also want to watch your back around the neighborhood near the railway station, as it is a place with bad crime figures and lots of suspicious-looking people. Lahti can be really nice and pleasant (although boring if you're expecting partying and fab culture events), but it has relatively more crime than the rest of Finland. Stay off the shady areas of the town and you'll be fine though, the town center itself is very safe, for example.

The wind combined with 115 metres tower…when it’s windy, even Olympic champions do not jump.
I have been few times to competitions that
had to be fully cancelled due to that wind.

This small little area is just off the market place and is a relular hangout for drunks and druggies. It is quite safe during the day but do not walk through here at nighttime!!!

Welcome to Lahti! There are about 100 000 inhabitants Lahti and the location is about 100 kilometers (one hour's drive) from Helsinki.
Lahti is the Finnish capital of winter sports. Every year they are hosting here a weekend of the World Cup in Nordic Sky competition which is a big happening.
