Turku Nightlife

And as you may have noticed, we are allways trying to find some beers we haven´t tasted before. So here´s one restaurant more to cxhoose from. Check their list at here:

Sadly many really interesting ones were very expensive. One pint and 11e was little too much for us, so we couldn´t buy the most interesting ones. Maybe we should have taken something to share to two glasses. Good ideas come to late..
But I think we will visit this one again some day. Hopefully not with as little money we were this time.. ;)

We have had Klubi in Tampere for ages, allthough it was "Tulliklubi" when I was younger. Now they do have Klubi at Turlu also. It´s a place dor live music. Kind of rock club (=klubi) , place of live music and no seats, so you can dance a little while watching the band.

I like Klubi at Tampere and in Turku much better than famous Tavastia at Helsinki for example. They have better air condition and reasonable prices. If you want to see a good rock club, check who is on the stage and visit Klubi. If the name of the singer doesn´t say nothing to you, go to you tube. Finns are very active putting songs in there. Many gigs can be sold out before, at least at weekends.
And they do have some beers to choose from. Some rock clubs in Finland seem to think it´s o.k. to have ONE beer at the tap.. And usually it is some poor brand witch comes cheap. Not nice if you are interested in beers like us. I rather drink water than Karhu-beer. ( The most sold Finnish beer, but I hate it!)

It´s a pub. One of famous local pubs, witch are made to old pharmacy, old school, old public toilet and this one..As you might have guessed: To old bank.

They have great selection of beers in here. This is one of must places if you like beer and go to Turku. Check the list by clicking: "Olutvalikoima" at their page. There is also changing beers.

This brewery restaurant (= panimoravintola) is made to old school (=Koulu). That´s why it´s very different from many others. And it´s very big to be a pub. You can usually find a quiet spot if yu want, or stay at the most crowded area, where the most "life" is.
They do have big beergarden at summer, and they really do brew own beers. And the beers are good!! By the way, their names are also different types of teachers :)
They do have food also, but we haven´t taste it, we come here for the house beers!
If you have seen Finnish Vares-movies, or read the Vares books, this is one of the places where detective Vares goes for a beer. ;)

It´s called cafe, but it is a pub. And a pub with great selection of changing beers! I don´t remeber seeing so many "new" ones for a while (new for me). Staff knew a lot about their beers and helped us to find interesting ones. We were going to have one bottle, but because of the good staff and selection, we found ourselves staying for three bottles ;)
There is lots of comics, Finnish and international. Finnish comic-drawers have drawn something at the walls also and have written somethin also.
Colors of the place are not so usual, quite colorful place! And I even liked the music. the Doors, Sisters of Mercy, Billy idol, Rolling Stones..
And it was reasonable priced!

I´m glad my friend told us to go here.

This is a pub located at old pharmacy, and it´s called new pharmacy because of that. They have those old pharmacy furniture at there and the place looks like old Finnish pharmacys do. Turku is known about these funny restaurants, made in old scholl, pharmacy, old toilet(!)...
Best think about this place is of course the great selection of beers. It´s a place where we beer-tasters still find something new every time. Some beers change, some are allways on the menu. The restaurants page is on Finnish only, but I choosed the list of beers. You can scroll it down and see tens of beers!
If you happen to have red Finnish Reijo Mäki´s "Vares"-books, this is the bar where detective Jussi Vares likes to drink with his friends. You can also meet the writer Mäki there, if you happen to be there at the right time.

Dress Code: What ever you want! If it would have a dress code, we wouldn´t like it!

Old bank is located in what was used to be a bank. It is in central location in the city and in summer they have a nice terrace for almost all day long. They have some nice beer selection from the tap as well as many more in bottles.

This is the local brewery, its name is Koulu which means school, it is fantastic old building and inside you can see the actual brewery and try few very interesting own none filtered lager and bock beers.
