If you are in stockholm and you want to get to turku don't hesitate to take the Viking Line ship.
It is a big cruise ship and the travel lasts one night. In the ship you can find restaurants, supermarkets, shops, sauna, discos, pubs and there are also some shows and karaoke.
All the stuff you want to buy on board is tax free (and that's the reason why a lot of finnish and swedish guys often take this ship to buy alchoolic and sigarettes).
You can travel with a cabin (but unless you can spend a lot of money expect to have a really small one) or you can buy a ticket just for the passage and spend the whole night in the disco or just going around the ship.
There is also a sleeping room where you can lay on the floor and have a rest.
Everything is very luxurious and finally i think it is really a beautiful experience.
Prices vary widely depending on if you are a student or you travel in a group or if you hold an inter rail or scan-rail pass.
Alòso the price depends on the day of the week you want to leave (friday and saturdaty are the most expensive), on the period of the year and on what kind of cabin you want.

Just a little tip if you come to Turku by car. We parked our car for free at the street next to the castle (Linnankatu - Turku seem to consist of only one street ;). Just follow the signs to "Satama" (Port) and the castle.
From there bus no. 1 brings you into town for 2€ and in no time. There's a bus every 10 mts or so. Cheaper and easier than to find a parking spot in the city centre.

These ferries run between Turku/Helsinki and Stockholm.
For students in Turku, this was a popular attractions for boring week-ends. I did several trips to Stockholm on these ships and had the best time of my student's life...LOL! Tickets were extremely cheap for students of course and as we hardly needed any accomodations onboard (who needs to sleep when you are young :-)? only one cabin to put our things and off we were having fun!
I remember the first pacman-games were on these ships (1981) and everyone wanted to play and get the best score.
Funny thing happened here where we -all the girls- got the playing bug instead of boys and I must say I had the worse one. I even succeeded staying number one for the whole trip :-)!!
From Turku it is possible to do day-trips where you can admire the amazing archipelago and wonder how these huge ships can make it to pass between all these islands!

There are 3 boat lines from Turku to/from Stockholm.
The Silja Europa is the best boat in Scandinavia, if you can,
take that one.

I left Turku by ExpressBus to Helsinki. The route is served by the biggest nationwide bus company Pohjolan Liikenne. A single ticket is about 21 EURO (2002). The bus terminal is located a 10 minutes walk north of the city centre.

It's easy to reach Turku from Helsinki. It tooks about 2 hours to travel by the train and it's very comfortable way. If you are an adult, the trip costs about 20 euros, or as a student, you can get that with half price, so it's just 10 euros.
There goes trains between Turku and Helsinki more than 10 in a day.

There's a river dividing the town, and it can be crossed by bridge at several points. But at one point, there is no bridge. Instead, this little ferry shuttles pedestrians and cyclists across for free. It takes about 90 seconds. There's a person in the blue booth who sits there all day running the ferry. Definitely a candidate for world's most boring job.

The ferry from Turku to Stockholm (9 hours) is a good cruise. You can see the archipelago during all the cruise and the arrival in Stockholm is wonderful !
Yu can take the Silja line or the Viking line.

Turku isn't so big. After the Rail-Bus surprise (see tourist traps) we walked around town.
There are Busses too.
There is a boat wich goes up and down the river.
One special transportation is a little ferry on the river wich brings pedestrians and cyclist to the other side of the river, and its free!! :-)

We got there from Helsinki by train. We used the Pendolino the fastest train on Finnish rails. The ride was very comfortable. The Railway Station is not in the middle of the town. The railways have got a Bus organized to get to the town centre. More about this Bus in the "tourist trap" tip. There is another Railway station at the harbour but not all trains run to and from there.
