A easy to walk, but shortly steep duckboard tril leads from the parking to the summit of the Aavasaksa. I highly recommend to take this walk as it brings you in a quite surreal and unexpected landscape here on top of Aavasaksa. The parking is almost on top of the mountain so the trail is quite short with its 500 meters (one way). I am pretty sure, that you will enjoy it. Have a look on the boards at the parking, you will find a lot of information about the Struve Arc, the Czars Cottage and general information about the mountain.

In case you come to Aavasaksa, you should definitely climb the Lookout Tower to enjoy a great view far into Sweden and back into the wide Finnish landscape.
The tower was built 1969 and is 13,16 cm high.
    Enjoy the sight!

The Aavasaksa is Finlands most southern point from which you can see the midnight sun. In the past famous people came here to have a look at that event. Even the Czar of Russia came and let a cottage been built on the summit. You can have a look at it on the summit, but you can't get inside.
