Mountain Saana is just by the hiking & camping centre, it has a trek to climb up which is very interesting as you start almost down by the lake in the valley and climb all the way up. There is a tourist shop also here, I thought being in the upper north more close to the nature I might find good barging here, but no way, it all looks like price system here, exactly the same rip off as any other place in Lapland :)
Besides getting frozen here, maybe the only danger thing is to have a road accident with the reindeer, so be careful with the reindeers on the road as there are many of them and you will see them everywhere.
No need to mention, if you are here in the winter or summer you will need to have with you your best shoes, good hiking shoes or any climbing shoes will be the best. After all, this area here is one of the greatest one for hiking in northern Europe.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: In the local stores and gas station you can buy mosquitoes repellent etc. You will surely need it in the summer and just for the information, the mosquitoes here are twice the size of mosquitoes which are for instance in the southern Europe region.
Photo Equipment: Be sure to have it with you.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Good sleeping bag, unfortunately I used my old one here which is suitable for normal summer night in Europe, but not Lapland in the high mountains, so I was freezing at night. For the next time here I am planning to have new sleeping bag and hopefully double, this to insure that me and my girl are warm enough :)
Kilpisjarvi located by the highest mountaintop in Finland over 1300 metres. It is also by the three border points where Sweden, Norway and Finland are meeting. This place is one of the most beautiful places in Lapland where you can do ski in the winter, hiking in the summer and just enjoy the great nature rich in water and wild life.more
