The most interesting thing to see in the village is the orthodox church (tsasouna) used by the Scolt Lapps.

On weekdays there are postbuses from Ivalo in the morning and in the afternoon. Because of limited connections its best to go there by private car.

There is no tourist office in Nellim at all. But the best place to get all the information is to visit the shop in the middle of the village. here all the people come and meet each other. A very important place. Here they can provide you with all the information you need and also they can give you other local tips to do and places to see. The locals know it best!

When you are in Nellim, you are very close to the Russian border One thing you shall NOT do is to pass the warning signs between Finland and Russia. Then you will get in trouble with the border patrols. It is just better to stay on the Finnish side, and not explore too much.

There is a harbour with many boats in Nellim, but I dont know if there are any oppurtunities to rent your own boat. I did not see any advertisements for this. But if you check with the people in the shop when it is open, during the summer time, then you will probably get all the information you need.
Otherwise you can go down to check with the owners directly. Perhaps someone wants to rent their boat to you or maybe lend it. If you dont go and ask, you will never know.

Favorite thing: Me and my friend found it a fascinating place to visit. So quiet and nice...
Fondest memory: My memory from Nellim ? Well the nice meal, nice church and museum and most of all the place itself being so isolated and far away from everywere... (atleast that what we felt when we finally arrived there...)
