Wrap up warm

by kimij

Make sure you have plenty of layers,in 4 days the temperature varied from -1 to -27 !! Gloves and hats are essential.Kids especially get cold quickly, also wet clothes will make you really cold so change out of wet socks or gloves asap! Keep cameras inside your jacket they really hate the cold also you will notice the cold zaps battery power so keep spares to hand.

It can get very cold

by Jasoninlondon

In winter it can get very cold, so pack lots of warm, wind proof clothes. Even if the temperature is not too low the wind can make it much colder.Thermal suits can be hired at some of the shops in Levi that are very warm.Good snow proof boots are also useful as there seems to be deep fresh powder everywhere, and normal shoes just don't help too much.

Warm Clothing

by jasoncheryl

Bring warm clothes and extra socks but don't overpack. We used a package deal with Espirit and they provided snow suites, boots, gloves, and hats to keep us warm. Batteries don't last long due to the extreme cold weather. Keep camera next to your body when not in use so their temperature will stay up and thus the batteries will last longer.

You can do your dishes in the river

If you planning hiking (in summer), not too heavy staff, it is nice to feel light and you usually do not need to carry water with you. Good shoes is a must, even in the summer you will need a good jacket as it getting very cold at night, it has happened that our toothpaste was just about freezing in the morning. Also recommending a thick leather jacket or so, that the mosquitoes cannot bite through because they will get through your normal cloths, jeans and wind jackets. In the local stores and gas station you can buy mosquitoes repellent etc. You will surely need it in the summer and just for the information, the mosquitoes here are twice the size of mosquitoes which are for instance in the southern Europe region. What ever you have, take with you. You will never regret it. Don't plan to buy additional items in Finland, they cost more here, but films are rather cheap. Buy the films...

Be prepared for the cold

by mustardgirl

be prepared for the cold... wear warm clothes and you are able to enjoy what the place has to offer to you...wear many layers. one very warm sweater is not as good as many layers of normal ones... long underwear, the thermal net one is very good and will keep you warm…its better if your boots are a size bigger rather than fit right...
