NIGHT CLUB

THE BEST CLUB IN ROVANIEMI. But beware they say 80 % of finn women are lesbians i did not beleive all i can say go to a night club you will see for your self, the ladies come together, they dance together never with a man in general, when its time to go home for some love and passion they go home with there women friend, so if your a smart person you judge for your self, All finn women want to be very independence thats why the birth rate is the lowest in the eu in finland, they got there inderpendant but they got nothing else because there to poor, almost no single finn women has her own home, we all no finn men are the smartest in the world but beleive me the finn women came up far short on that scale, when a guy does try to go for a finn girl they all say go to thailand, until the finn girl realise they do need a man they will have nothing but there bike and there dog and there beer,

Oluthuone is the local cool spot for a beer and to mix with the local people. They have good selection of local and import beers but if course on a sunny summer day, lonkero on the outside terrace is the most recommended.

Ounasjoki flowing by Arktikum @ 17th July 1:07

Midsummer time (May-July) you can prove yourself how the sun persistently goes around above the horizon 24h.

This is just a normal phenomenon in Arctic areas which however seems to amaze the people living South from the Arctic circle.

Hotel Santa Claus - Xmas lights

Well, since Rovaniemi is such a small town, I think you really should just go downtown, to the main square, spot some people, go talk with them and hang out with them the rest of the night! They'll know the best places and also if someone's having a houseparty.

Find a lake, cabin and sauna: Midnight Sun
Scandic profile photo

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Scandic 373 reviews

You don't travel to Lapland because of bars or clubs, don't you? Most travelers want to feel the light of the summer night or darkness of winter day.
Midnight Sun is a unforgetable experience for those, who comes relatively further from Arctic Circle. It might be hard to understand that sun can shine all night long and there is light everywhere everytime.
For those who live inside of Arctic Circle, it is as normal as hard rains are people who live at Equador.

Dress Code: The best way to feel midnight sun or celebrate Midnight Summer fest, is do it at countryside. Very typical Finnish tradition is have a cottage by lake, do some rowing, grilling sausage and tasting beer, and most important be with friends.
Sound simple, but believe me, it is better than any night clubs can afford.

Pub Paha Kurki (=bad crane): A local beer house

Look for this sign!

If I'd have a local pub this would be it. When I lived in Rovaniemi I did "visit" it quite a bit ;)!
It's a small, cosy pub near the centre of Rovaniemi. People of all ages come to sit, listen to music and have a few beers. What I especially enjoyed here was the music (mostly domestic&foreign rock and some pop). Just hail the bartender to give you a CD-menu, then pick your favourite music and tell it to him, you might also want to order a pint...?
You can also try the pub nextdoor - pub ylityö (=overtime work) - which is quite similar but usually a bit older people hang around there.

Dress Code: Casual, anything goes

Jamming!

Once a year, for the ninth time (2003), in the middle of august, there is a blues festival in Rovaniemi. It's held on the beach-side right in the center of Rovaniemi, great spot if the weather is sunny. So if you happen to be around, just follow the music and you'll get there!

Dress Code: No requirements. Just so you can enjoy and jam around!

If you have luck you may see, around mid night some Northern lights. More than that, you may enjoy the view of the Arktikum museum over the frozen Kemijoki river. Rovaniemi it's almost a ghost city at night in winter time. You may reach some people in pubs and restaurants...

Dress Code: According with the weather...
