Santa Claus Village lies right on the Arctic Circle. If you’re making the trip to Northern Finland, you might as well just go that extra mile and take the opportunity to cross the Arctic Circle. I mean, you don't get to say you've been above the Arctic Circle everyday, do you? Unless, of course, you live there.

Cloudberry (in Finnish: hilla / suomuurain / lakka) picking is AN EXPERIENCE! And, I love cloudberries...not picking them because it's so slow but eating them is great even though they're quite expensive. They are VERY DELICIOUS !
The cloudberry season lasts only for 2 weeks in August and it changes quite a bit! It can be the first two weeks or the last two weeks... :)

Of course we have summer as well!
So I recomment beaches what we have few... but you will be in shock when you try to swim in water... I think I've got used to it, but my mum isn't, she can't swim in Rovaniemi, because the water is so cold! :D
Anyway, My favorite beaches are 'Ounaspavilijonki' near Citymarket (the local supermarket in Saarenkylä 1,5km from Rovaniemi centre) and beach next to bridge 'Jätkänkynttilä'. In 'Ounaspavilijonki' we have warmer water...:D but rarely over 20 celcius degrees ;)

Arctic wheels offers the chance to try driving REAL rally cars, off-road driving with 4x4s or quad bikes (HEY I REALLY KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! ;-) And those words probably are the most difficult ones which have something to do with cars and I can use). Winter has driving tuition, winter driving tips, car Olympics and rally school on the ice track.
