Many Safaris offices offer a trip to the Ranua Park done in 4 hours.
I have been there and 4 hours are not enough to see that fantastic Wildlife Park.
I suggest to go to the bus station, take a bus ticket and using the line 8 go to the Park, take your time during the day and then take the last bus to come back.
This is the less expensive and better way to have fun at the Park

Now, after our dingbat adventures in Rovaniemi, Liz and I were a tad worried about our leg of our journey. We hoped to make it to Lulea, Sweden in one piece so that we could catch the glass-covered train to Narvik, Norway. But the route to Lulea wasn't easy and we were scared to be lost in the deep Scandic north. But our worries were unfounded. Though there was some language difficulty and lots of hair pulling, we made it to Lulea by the late afternoon. I admit it wasn't an easy journey and I vowed to put the travel info online once I made it thru. So here it is for your easy reference:
Rovaniemi Train Station -> Kemi Train Station (Finland)
VR Train (Finnish Railways). Click here for time schedule.
Journey Time : 1 hour 30min
Kemi Train Station->Kemi Bus Station
Now this is slightly tricky but the bus station is just a stone's throw from the station.After you alight. Walk to the right, cross a main road and voila! It's about a 4 min walk. A tiny bus station awaits you there. Your Scanrail pass should cover the fare, if not a small fare. We told the ticket attendant that we wanted to go to Haparanda ( say HA-PA-RUN-TA) and we got a ticket.
Kemi Bus Station->Tornio Bus Station(Finland)
Journey Time : 45min. Click here for the schedule. The bus will stop at Tornio first before crossing over a tiny suspension bridge to Sweden! If your bus connection doesn't continue to Haparanda, never mind; it's only an 800 meter walk from the bus station in Tornio to the one in Haparanda.
->Haparanda Bus Station(Sweden)-> Lulea (Bus Station)
Click here for the schedule
Journey Time : 3hrs 45min

Now that I live over 800km:s away from Rovaniemi, the easiest and fastest way is to fly there. The cheapest airlineticket You can find is from Blue 1. You have to make your reservation as soon as possible, the more reservations the airline gets the more they'll charge you. And the trip doesn't take more than 1 hour 15 minutes.

Rovaniemi is the start of Lapland (which belongs to Norway, Sweden too) and seems so distant. There is no problem by plane (there is... traffic, as natural, during the Christmas period) about spending much time to go there, but by train you must be patient... At least, the railway network is excellent, trains are fast and modern.

We used the overnight train from Turku to Rovaniemi and went back on the Rovaniemi-Helsinki overnight train. The train has got 2 berth and single compartements wich are very comfotable. Some of the trains cary cars too! This is surely the most comfortable way to travel to the north of Finland.

IT’S EASY TO COME TO ROVANIEMI
Rovaniemi, the 'capital' of Northern Finland, is in the lower regions of Lapland at the centre of where the Arctic Circle winds its way through the heart of the Maid of Finland (the name Finns give to describe the shape of the country).
Rovaniemi has developed into one of the main centres for traffic to the arctic region to which thousands of people who thirst for adventure fly from all over the world each year. The connections for all other forms of transport are excellent.
Finnair flies from Helsinki to Rovaniemi six times a day and VR, the national railway, operates five trains a day. Many coach companies pass through Rovaniemi on their way to the North.
The city and its surrounding Rural District with all that they have to offer together form an irresistible attraction for holidays and tourism in Lapland. This easy going city with its services lives in harmony with the surrounding pure nature and - no wonder that more and more people keep coming back here again and again…
Welcome!

With the many possibilities of transportation it is easy to arrive in Lapland. Choose an alternative to suit your needs. Train and plane are the most popular ways to get here! (You can't get here by ship :D)
When in Rovaniemi you can travel by bus, taxi, rental car, bicycle and of course for shorter trips you can WALK. =) Remember that Rovaniemi is
a really small town! But don't recomment to walk to visit Santa Claus... It's about 7kms!
