Take a two hour cruise via M/S Rosella of Viking Line from Mariehamn to Kapellskär on the outskirts of Norrtälje just north of Stockholm in Sweden. Lots of things to do or see are available onboard the passenger cruise ship. You can do your tax-free shopping for perfumes, cosmetics, leather goods, clothings, chocolates, liquor, wines, beer and cigarettes at the tax free shop. You may watch the popular local artists sing or perfom or you may just dance your evening away at the nightclub. For those who are very fond of gambling, there are never short of slot machines for you to pass your time. For those who are hungry and thirsty several cafés, bars and restaurants are available onboard for you to chill out such as the popular Seaside Café. Other facilities onboard include conference and meeting rooms, video arcades, sun deck and cabins. Leave a Comment

Take the opportunity to grill your fresh food when you are visiting Mariehamn on your vacation! Locations for grill are provided along the beach just outside the city center for the convenience of local and foreign picknickers and tourists. In some locations, firewoods are even provided complete with axes. Please do not litter the grill area after enjoying your food and drink. Waste disposal bins are usually provided at all grill locations. Please make sure that fires at the grill are completely extinguished before you leave the area. Leave a Comment

Church in Hollola by magor65 Hollola is a picturesque little village with a beautiful church, one of the oldest in Finland. It comes from 15th century. This stone and brick church looks very nice with the green of grass and trees around. But it's the interior that is really worth seeing. You can admire there splendid star vaults, old frescos and sculptures from 15th century. The belfry is relatively new - it comes from the first half of 19th century and was designed by Carl Engel. Hollola is about 10 km from Lahti Leave a Comment

Bengtsk?r; Finland by sinoda Only one and a half hour by boat from Hanko (the southern-most city of Finland). The fare is some 44e which includes a salmon soup aboard the vessel. Leaving Hanko at 10 o'clock in the morning the ship arrives at 1130 - two hours stay and then back to Hanko. You may explore the whole island, which is rather small, including the tower and the catacombs in the rock. You might even take a dip in the sea if you like to. There is even the possibility of staying over, but be sure to book in advance! Leave a Comment

Naantali by magor65 Naantali is a picturesque little port town. It has a nice marina with lots of cafes and restaurants, a unique old town with wooden architecture, but first of all it is famous for its Moomin World. It's full of characters known to both children and adults from the books by Tove Jansson. Leave a Comment

Bothnia Bay by magor65 This place at the very end of Bothnia Bay may seem nothing special. Just the sea and red granite rocks, the sound of waves and wind, and no human beings as far as the eye can see. But it made a lasting impression on me. I still can remember this feeling as if for a second this place belonged only to me. Leave a Comment

Lahti by magor65 Everybody must have heard of Lahti - the place of great skiing events. I have always imagined that it is situated among high mountains (forgive me my ignorance). I had to come to Finland to find out that there aren't any high mountains there. But the ski jumps are imposing (perhaps they don't look so in the picture). It was nice to stand at the observatory terrace and recall the jumps of Adam Malysz. The ski jumps are used all year long; in low season just for trainings. Leave a Comment

Navigating in Hamina by sinoda The town centre is built in expanding circles around the city hall. Try taking one of the circle streets and get a different glimpse of the central square - which actually isn't a square - in every crossing. The town is surrounded by a star-shaped fortification nowadays giving great frames for concerts and other events. Located on the South Coast, 150 km East from Helsinki. Don't miss the pictoresque town of Porvoo on the way! Leave a Comment
