Kuhmo Things to Do
Once a year in July there is a small lively break in this sleeping town when international visitors are arriving to Chamber music festival. "Small" is a good term as the nature of this festival is not rowdy and noisy, the participants are mostly friends of classical music, e.g. middle aged librarians and teachers fond of cheap rosé wine (known widely as "rosette ladies").
Remember that dress code is definetely casual and informal, the more old fashioned and unfit dress is found the more you will be part of the crowd. The favorite costume for the men is Marimekko Aikapoika shirt, definetely used for many days without laundry, wrinkled and unpressed.
Each year the festival has a different composer theme. Tickets are cheap.Related to:
